Mixpak has been fucking murdering the dancehall so far in 2013. What I’ve loved is that they have been able to put out releases like Dubbel Dutch’s Self Help Riddim and the Pressure Vol 2 that are so forward thinking yet maintain the integrity of dancehall in a way that Major Lazer will never be able to succeed at (sorry noobs).
If you’ve followed this site for a few years then you know that we are dancehall maniacs as well as Douster maniacs. I might just be ignorant but Douster’s output has seemed to be less in the last few years. We’re happy to hear him again and these riddims are pretty tight.
First up the track Dollar Sign starts things off hard. Things slow down for Like a Genie and then get faster and optimistic for Never Lose. Finally Douster ends off in the 130bpm territory where we first got to know him as a dancehall/house hybrid. Best in our opinion are Dollar Sign and Never Lose. Check out the EP yourself:
